About

Throughout the generations, Sephardic communities world-wide boasted a tremendous level of Torah scholarship. From the Rishonim of Spain and North Africa to the scholars of Greece, Turkey, Syria, Baghdad and Yerushalayim, our spiritual leaders have not only brought Halacha to incredible heights but also applied it in their communities with great wisdom and clear direction. Under their dedicated leadership, our Hachamim have succeeded in maintaining thriving and devout communities.

In an effort to add yet another link to that rich heritage, the Bet HaVa’ad Halacha Center – in conjunction with leading Sephardic rabbis in Eretz Yisrael and North America – has set out on a mission to advance the research and application of Halacha in the Sephardic community nation-wide.

The SHC publishes several high-level Halachic media including a popular print journal, e-journal, Halacha audio series and comprehensive website that serve as a resource of Halachic information and services.

We also offer Halacha consultation services, monetary Halacha and Bet Din services (dispute resolution, Heter Iska, Shabbat contracts and more).

We hope to bring our monetary Halacha workshops to communities nation-wide and raise awareness on the importance of conducting business ethically in accordance with Halacha. We also hope to train Sephardic Dayanim who will serve the community faithfully and develop a nation-wide network of night Kollelim to help train rabbis and laymen in the more rigorous and practical sections of Halacha, dealing with monetary, medical and family law.

May we have the Siyata DiShmaya to add yet another link to the rich heritage of Halacha scholarship and commitment in Sephardic communities throughout the Diaspora and Eretz Yisrael.

The Sephardic Halacha Center is led by Rabbi Ariel Ovadia, Rabbi Moshe Pinhasi and Rabbi David Grossman. We have received warm endorsements from leading Poskim, such as Rav Shmuel Pinhasi שליט”א (who also guides and reviews the SHC’s activities), Rav David Yosef שליט”א, Rav Yaakov Hillel שליט”א, and Rav Reuven Feinstein שליט”א, as well as community rabbis such as Rabbi Yaakov Ben-Haim, Rabbi Aryeh Azancot, Rabbi Yosef Galamidi, Rabbi Mordechai Lebhar and many more.
